TL;DR: Grid decisions still get made across emails, spreadsheets, PDFs, GIS exports, and conflicting model versions. Squid (squid.energy) gives utilities a single, trusted model (a live, versioned grid map of substations and lines, with evidence attached) so planning is consistent, and decisions ship faster.
Most grid organisations have the tools for analysis, but the decision trail is fragmented:
Result: slow planning cycles, endless “which version is right?”, and hard-to-defend decisions.
Squid is a workspace where the model of the electric grid at the center.
Electrification is accelerating and the grid is the bottleneck. The old workflow - files, handoffs, static reports - doesn’t scale to the pace of change.
We’re Conor Jones and George Kolokotronis. We’ve built inside National Grid, Octopus Energy, and AWS - we’ve lived the pain, and we’re building the system we wish we had.
We’re looking for design partners at grid operators (planning, connections, modelling, GIS, asset strategy). If that’s you - or you can intro us - please reach out: hello@squid.energy
