Every time someone gets hired, applies for a mortgage, or needs a background check, someone has to verify they actually worked where they said they did.

This means millions of phone calls per year to HR/payroll/admin departments. Leaving voicemails. Sending emails. Sending faxes (yes, in 2026). Waiting days for callbacks. Calling back. Getting transferred. Leaving more voicemails.

Background screeners and banks hire armies of people to do this. It's tedious, expensive, and the turnover is bad because the job is mind-numbing.
