End-to-end workspace to accelerate scientific discovery
Who We Are
AnswerThis is accelerating the path to scientific discoveries by automating the most tedious part of research: literature reviews. Over 300,000 scientists across top universities and companies have used AnswerThis to accelerate their research.
We are backed by Y Combinator, Phosphor Capital, as well as leaders at companies like OpenAI, Google, Typeset, and multiple exited founders.
We are extremely mission-driven and want to create the future system of record for all research across labs. The product is growing exponentially across both individual scientists and teams of researchers at major life-science institutions. We follow an extremely lean methodology and operate with relentless focus. We believe in product excellence with great design and high reliability.
About the Role
We are an intense, tightly-knit team based in San Francisco building this future. You'll be our first founding engineer, working directly with the founding team to build the research platform that labs depend on.
We want to create a small but extremely ownership-driven team. You will analyze funnels, talk to customers, and run AB tests alongside engineering core production. You will be working with all of our stack, which is currently: TypeScript, Vite, Next.js, Python, Agno, and Kubernetes. Topics will include: scalable APIs, vector databases, LLM engineering, production agentic AI, CI/CD, integrations with third-party systems, and frontend. We expect you to be very experienced with most of these.
AnswerThis is building the system of record for scientists—where researchers can find papers, analyze experiments, and write drafts while collaborating with other scientists and AI agents.
We crossed $1M ARR in 8 months. 200,000+ researchers at Stanford, MIT, Amazon, and top institutions worldwide use us daily. We're backed by Y Combinator (F25) and cash-flow positive.
Science moves too slowly. Grant applications take months. Literature reviews take weeks. Researchers spend more time on paperwork than on discovery. We're fixing that.
You'll be joining a small, fast team in SF that ships constantly and talks to customers every day.
